I was recently contacted by an Extension specialist in another state who told me that he might be able to provide video of interviews with National Guard families in his state. Ron can establish the procedure another Extension office would have to follow to make the interviews suitable. Under the right conditions, I would be willing to travel to another state to conduct the interviews. If you think this would be possible in your state, let me know.
Our goal is to have all the interviews done by Christmas. Viewing videos repeatedly to find the potential segments for the final program is very time consuming. Even so, the more interviews we conduct the better the final program.
We are also very interested in finding the special story of one family. If you know of a family that could serve as a primary "face" of the program, let me know.
What a challenge we have!!

This is great to see. I'm an Assistant Professor at the University of Utah in the Psychology Department, and started doing research with Utah National Guard soldiers/airmen and spouses last year. The focus on these troops is incredibly important, given the different level of training they receive (compared to active component troops), and the different levels of structured support they receive when they return home (e.g., not being on a military base). We're just getting ready to submit findings that look at the levels of combat these soldiers are seeing, and their psychological symptoms (depression, PTSD) compared to active component troops in Iraq and compared to National Guard troops in prior conflicts. I have no idea if this could be helpful, but just thought I'd pass it on (if you have questions, feel free to email me -- you can find me through my webpage at the University of Utah). Thanks for doing such a great project.
Thanks for posting Keith. I would indeed like to see the results of your study. In case you are not continuing to read this blog, I'll try to find you at your university website.
Appreciate your support. Thanks again!
